Word War vi

Wordwarvi, or 'Word War vi', is an old school '80's style side
scrolling space shoot'em up arcade game.
It presents a very nice balance between retro style and entertaining gameplay.
It is about the battle between the two venerable unix editors, vi, and emacs.

  0 The Story ...
1 In the beginning, there was ed.
2 Ed is the standard text editor.
3 Then there was vi, and it was good.
4 Then came emacs, and a dearth of RAM.
5 Your mission is to traverse core
6 memory and rid the host of emacs.
7 It will not be an easy mission, as
8 there are many emacs friendly
  9 processes._

You pilot your "vi"per craft through core memory, rescuing lost .swp files, avoiding OS defenses, and wiping out those memory hogging emacs processes.
When all the lost .swp files are rescued, head for the socket which will take you to the next node in the cluster.

Things you may encounter:

Enemies to defeat:

Cron Job Will shoot projectiles at you. Will attempt to collect the vi .swp files and carry them to caldera of the volcano

Emacs - Beware of viruses which may be living inside.

GDB processes. Will attempt to ptrace you with heat seeking probes. Avoid and/or kill.

Jets, which fire heat seeking missiles. Avoid the missiles.

Rocket and Laser turret - Avoid hitting them

SAM station - Heat seeking SAM's. Avoid.

fetchmail - Blimp (representing emacs). Will shoot heat seeking missiles.
